Don’t trash it, SMASH it! Sling your pumpkin across Astoria Park using a giant slingshot designed and built by Astoria Woodworkers Collective. Once you’ve given your pumpkin a proper smash, spread your pumpkin guts throughout the park, which serves as compost for our tree canopy. This smash will definitely be one for the history books! 

This year, we will also be incorporating fun games and activities typically part of our Shore Fest festival. Before or after your smash, enjoy potato sack races, face painting, and more!

APA Pumpkin Smash takes place in Astoria Park near the Ditmars Blvd. and 19th Street corner. Join us on Saturday, November 4th from 1:00pm-3:00pm. (The event may be cancelled due to inclement weather, please stay tuned to social media for updates.)

And of course, we encourage the community to compost their pumpkin regardless of whether they can make it to the Smash.
